We have arrived to Luton at about 1 a.m. (GMT 0) without any delays with direct flight from Poznan. We took a shuttle to the train station where for 8 £, we got a daily ticket for all zones in London. So by train and Tube (London name for the Underground) finally we have come to the Piccadilly Circus , where we spent couple of minutes looking for the hostel. We even didn’t notice how quickly the time has passed because as soon as we entered the room we had to leave it... don’t worry they didn’t cancel our reservations, just at 3:30 we were supposed at the London Metal Exchange. The visit there was one big misunderstanding because we didn’t see more than professor Potts had shown us during the lecture in Wroclaw. Our minds were taken by just one thought... the shower! but not so easy... firstly we went to “Shakespeare’s Head” pub were I got pint of beer and ordered famous British fish and chips... which actually is an awful food without any taste. Soon we got back to the hostel and after some refreshing, decided to go for a walk in the neighbourhood. And that’s how Rys has seen already the Buckingham Palace, House of Parliament, Big Ben and the London Eye. Very nice was to visit St. James’s Park which was situated quite close to our place. Aa and I have to mention that this day the weather in the capital was fantastic! Unfortunately instead of sight-seeing during the day and enjoying Sun,we had to waste our time in LME.

The schedule for Thursday was really tight. Meeting in BHP Billiton, then lunch, meeting in Anglo American Group... no free time until the evening. Yesterday Hans told us that the breakfast in hostel is included, so I didn’t buy anything to eat for the next day... You would ROTFL seeing my astonished face when I got my “breakfast”. I thought it’s some joke but no, no... one dry toasted leaf of bread and some strange, yellow fluid which looked like a liquid for washing-dishes was all what we got. “Yep.. thank you very much” we said and went out to get to the BHP Billiton HQ. There was waiting for us coffee bar so with filled with cookies and caffeine stomachs we were ready for the conference. BHP is the biggest mining company, but actually they didn’t offer any internship programs for us except some in financial office. It was very nice meeting there and what’s more we got quite useful materials – books and brochures about petroleum mining.

Just after 1pm we finished our lunch and went to the next company – the Anglo-American Group. I have already had contact with this group in Venlo, during a reunion, so I already knew what to expect. They offer us really wide internship program, and it wouldn’t be surprising when I will write, that I am going to apply for few months in summer under their wings. And although every year the number of appliers increases I am an optimist. However I would be going rather for UK or Scandinavia to spend as much as possible with mano Mylimoji:)

Because the HQ of AA is located near the Piccadilly Circus, we came to the hostel soon. The Piccadilly Circus is non-stop living square – taking a Leicester Street you are passing plenty of pubs, cafes, shops, restaurants and casinos. Invited by “Sale” posters and billboards I went together with Ferenc to one of the shopping centres. For really low prices I have bought trainers, and other stuff for jogging (sweat-shirt, shirt, shorts and jacket). Later we went for a walk and to look for some cheap internet which in the Hostel was extremely expensive (1£ per 10 mins, while in the city for such price they give 1 hour). I fell asleep quickly- tired after busy day, but still hungry of sight-seeing London.
