I write about Erasmus in Germany with delay because of few reasons. The first one is that there is really nothing to write about this. Second that even if I would like to write up-to-date It was impossible because of very busy schedule and lack of free internet in dormitory. And finally the last but not the least reason which comes to my mind is that no one cares what was in Germany. But I promised in the beginning of the year to write regularly so I do.
Day after exams in Cornwall, we went to London – trip quite expensive, because crossing England cost about £50 and really tiring because of heavy luggage and small place in train. Flight from Luton to Dortmund was preceded by funny check-in, well actually conversation between Aleksei and stewardess what a bit “repaired our moods”. In Dortmund we were welcomed by our professor – Christian Buhrow from TU Freiberg, who took us to our hostel in Bottrop. We were quite surprised when the room was shown to us. Actually after excellent apartments in Helford everything looked very poor, but this one was not up to par… For next 14 days we lived 8 in one room, sleeping on shaking bunk beds with one bathroom and no laundry. That’s why Easter was awaited more than ever before.
Our day began always about 6:30 because at 7 was coming professor and took us to Recklinghausen, where in buildings owned by DSK we had lectures of HSE (Health Safety and Environment). In the afternoon the rooms where switched to galleries and casual clothes to mining uniforms, next 4-5 we spent in Training Mine, practicing different types of roof support. In Germany we participated in few excursions – among them to Becker systems office or to GHH where we did the HSE analysis.
The course was finished by exam at 7am which results we don’t know yet… btw. we still don’t have any results any messages about the exams and projects done in Cornwall.
Next stop… MISKOLC!
